interactive television

Interactive TV is a relatively new medium and people are unsure how to navigate or find information. The mode of interaction is very different to that of the Internet and conventional TV and therefore each person who uses interactive TV for the first time is essentially on a very steep learning curve. As with any digital interface, the navigation and information structure of an interactive TV service should reflect the way users want to find information or buy products

For some organisations interactive TV offers the perfect digital channel for reaching new customers or existing customers in new ways. For many though the experience has not been good and frequently the channel itself has been blamed for poor performance.

Despite the massive investment that organisations have needed to make in order to be present on the interactive TV platform of their choosing, most fail to carry out any usability testing and as a result their site simply doesn't work, users give up, and performance is poor.

As part of the improvement process, I create a representation of your system using wireframes, which are mock-ups of individual interface screens.

As well as modelling the concepts, my wireframes also consider the application's intended content, intended audience, scenarios of use and technical constraints. These prototypes are created using tools such as Visio, Excel or Powerpoint.

Each element in the wireframe is verified by employing specialised techniques, to elicit user feedback on the developing user centred design. The wireframe is constantly revised based on this feedback and any necessary design modifications are made. Throughout this process the technical feasibility of the proposed solution is constantly monitored.
